We are very happy to report that Tommy came through his surgery very well. Dr. Shamberger was successful in removing the tumor and the spread down the vena cava as well as any questionable lymph-nodes. Dr. Mohamed, the anesthesiologist, said it took a team to be successful and Tommy was the Captain! His heart was very strong, like a Lion! We are recovering in the ICU and will be in Children's about a week.
Tommy's next step after recovering from the surgery will be a combination of chemotherapy and radiation to attack the micro fibers that may still be cancerous. The radiation should be about 8 days and chemotherapy will last most likely into the January time frame.
Keep praying, your prayers are working! Please remember all the sick kids here at Children's and everywhere!
